Well done Mr Bates for his record keeping and the way he lead the campaign to get justice for the victims of the discraceful Post Office scandal. Those poor people who were wrongfully accused of stealing when all along it was the computer system that was faulty. Listening to some of those workers who felt pressured into accepting a guilty charge, because they couldn't see a way out of the situation was heartbreaking. All those lives ruined. They lost their savings, livelihood, some went to prison, and some lost their lives or died before their names were cleared. All of them were broken. I hope the compensation goes through quickly, and I hope the government do the right thing to ensure Fujitsu are thoroughly investigated. And those Post Office bosses with their posh titles, I don't care what they say, then or now, they knew something wasn't right and they chose to ignore it. They should be made to return the millions they were responsible for losing. I hope there is no hiding place or safety net for them.
∼ Be warm and well∼

Haven't heard about this in Canada, but glad to hear that justice ultimately prevailed.
ReplyDeleteIt's all over our news thanks to a TV programme highlighting the scandal.
DeleteI agree wholeheartedly. However, isn't it pathetic that there has been so much apathy towards the victims re: this scandal over the past 20years; from both government and others in high places until highlighted in the recent TV drama.
ReplyDeleteYes it is. The programme highlighted how difficult it is for the 'little man' to come up against the might of government, people in high places, and maybe corruption.
