A Splendid Appendage

This lovely gentleman was happy to let me take a photo of him sporting this magnificent moustache.
He has maintained it for over 30 years! We met him and his wife in a café in Lyndhurst whilst on a day out in the New Forest area a couple of years ago. It was a coach trip through some lovely countryside and villages stopping only once for lunch so I didn't take any photos except this one below taken from the coach.

I don't know what it is, it's inland, some kind of lookout tower maybe, or a water tower.
If you know please tell. I thought it was a nice structure.

  1. That moustache is amazing! And that grin on his face is even more so.

I think that the building shown below is an old light house. Is it on a sea shore? If it is, the chances are that it was decades ago.

    1. Hi Bijoux, it's a lighthouse. John (above) identified it and provided a link to its history. It was built only 20 years ago to guide yachts and other vessels safely into the mouth of the nearby Beaulieu River.

  10. Although I am not a fan of these types of mustaches, you have to admire his perseverance and dedication to keeping it tidy! So glad to see you are able to get out and about. We try to do walks on our nature trail every nice day and look forward to the day we will be able to go wherever we want. Have a great week, Polly. - Marilyn D.

  11. I used to live very near to the New Forest as a child. I have lovely memories of that time.

Not sure why but when I come to comment here, quite often the comment disappears and I have to retype it!
