Under Pressure

I have just taken delivery of a parcel.
I was cleaning the downstairs toilet at the time, I heard the bell and the knock on the door.
It took 25 steps to get to the front door
The delivery man was walking away
This has happened before, do the delivery people expect the door to be opened the second they take their finger off the bell?
They are not to blame, it's the culture of employing minimum people to do maximum work.
I don't like being the age I am, but I am so glad I don't have to work anymore.

  2. We don't have any problem with parcel deliveries, they do usually wait for someone to come to the door. And we're happy to take deliveries for our neighbours if they aren't at home. But I've read horror stories of parcels simply left on the doorstep or left in a wheelie bin. The pay and conditions for delivery drivers are so appalling, we're lucky they're willing to do the job at all.

  3. Ours aren't too bad. We must be lucky. What does make me fret though is when I have to enter a generated security number. I'm always afraid it will disappear from the screen before I've entered it.

  4. Hi Polly! I know exactly what you mean, here it's the same and it happens here, because the delivery people get paid per parcel......
Reading your blog title I indeed had to think of Queen and David Bowie, so it was very applicable for this blog post ;)!
    Have a nice evening,

  7. Hi Polly, I'm still at work (sigh), but I work from home two days a week from my 'office' in an upstairs bedroom. Whenever someone knocks at the front door, I panic as I know I've got to try and race downstairs before they go. More often than not, it's someone trying to sell me something I don't want...
