My Friends live just outside Chichester in the small coastal village of Bosham

The village library

The villagers maintain the box.
I've seen a few like this one that have been given a new lease of life and looked after.
It was criminal that these lovely phone boxes were replaced by
the hideous Mercury glass and metal eyesores.

After leaving Chichester I stayed a night in Arundel, a lovely market town in the vale of the South Downs, West Sussex. It has a medieval castle and a Catholic cathedral.

View of the castle from my hotel room

Very nice comfortable room

Roomy bath and shower room

I didn't do my homework before planning this visit.
Being November the castle was closed......I think it's beautiful inside.

It's a pretty town

Muscovy ducks outside the tearoom

every time people arrived in their cars or left the tearoom the geese approached them en masse!

I liked Arundel

We have snow again, the temp reached 14C on Friday,
this morning the wind chill felt like -10!! crazy weather.

~Be warm and well ~

  1. What a treat to see your lovely photographs.
We've had snow today and it's still snowing!
    Roll on Spring.

    All the best Jan

    1. Oh yes please. We had snow over the weekend, today has been glorious with sunshine and a high of 12C.

  2. I've never been to Arundel. It looks rather wonderful, especially the magnificent castle. The castles here in Northern Ireland are mostly old ruins with little left standing. I've heard of those phone-box libraries before - a brilliant idea.

I love the way the Muscovy ducks follow anyone who might have some food!

    1. Animals learn very quickly that where there are humans there is usually food!

  3. That’s village library is the best idea I have seen in years. Bravo to all who contribute to its success.

    1. So many were just left to fade and rot so it's nice to see them taken over by communities.

    2. Thank you for visiting David.

  4. What a lovely place to visit. I love the geese and the library is simply brilliant.

    1. Hello Amalia, people borrow the books that others have contributed, and it works very well. I don't know how the books fare in very cold wet weather though. x

  5. Love the phone box library, they have so much character and history those phone boxes, I'm happy they are being used. Arundel looks lovely Polly, looks like the skies were blue for your visit!

    1. Hi Grace, yes the weather was gloriously Autumn - cold but sunny :-)

  6. Oh my, what an enchanting place! And that castle...be still my heart! It's simply stunning. Loved the phone box library - what a fun and unique idea.

    Hugs to you, dear Polly!
