Wall Art

Oh dear, it's the last day of my holiday and I am sad, very sad to be leaving my daughter.

I still have a few images to share with you.

I'm a fan of wall art, a lot of aptitude and talent goes into it.
Fremantle has an abundance of graffiti, or "tags" as it is more commonly known.

A few years ago the council decided that graffiti can be art, however offensive graffiti will be removed upon discovery by city officers or when reported, and can result in fines and a criminal record.

Genuine artists need to go through a mural application process
or get involved in the city's urban art program.

These next 10 images run the length of a warehouse selling household items from around the world.

These three and the cricket are on the old Myers building which is due for renovation

Hope you have enjoyed the tour of wall art, just a few of many around the city.

Time to pack my case now....

Christmas Bazaar

Every year Fremantle Arts Centre hosts a Christmas bazaar. I love bazaars
I didn't buy anything though because
1) It was all quite expensive
2) I didn't actually see anything that really excited me,
and since I have already done quite a bit of shopping I have to be mindful of my baggage allowance.
I was quite taken with these cute urban pet beds, but this would not fit in my case!

and I just can't picture Buster or Rufus on one of them, they prefer their beds, rugs or furniture!
Buster would probably be scared of it!

I think they are more suited to cats and smaller dogs

I did also like these concrete pots, but not just your average concrete pot,
they are lightweight and pretty colours

Aren't they lovely

This one looks like a paper bag, with a creased bottom, very clever.

It was a very hot day but there was plenty of cool shade

In Cahoots

Phew it's been hot, I'm not complaining, I like hot, except when I have a hot flush,
then I feel like I'm on fire and want to dive into air conditioned shops!
Yesterday was hot (36 deg) and sunny with a breeze which made it comfortable,
today however has been hot and oh so humid, horrible.
Storms are forecast for tomorrow and Tuesday.

The Fremantle Arts Centre is housed in a lovely building that used to be a lunatic asylum.
They produce events, exhibitions, courses and concerts throughout the year.
Their current exhibition is called "In Cahoots"

The collection is a collaboration of artists across Australia,
18 months of artist's residencies in remote and regional Aboriginal art centres.
Artists from six key Aboriginal art centres invited leading independent
artists – both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal – to work with them.
The  artworks are striking and bold in their inventive use of materials,
and many have significant meanings to their creators.

This is the bonnet of a vehicle

These artworks were made from scrap metal, bits of leather, straw, wood, cardboard and paper.

Little homestead of dog, water tank, house and church

Love the dog

I really liked this one above

Astronaut

Super Heroes

Now this I don't understand or like
The artists own blood dripping down the wall
Unless it's meant to portray human suffering,
but if that's the case is it really necessary to go to such extremes?
Suffering can be portrayed in so many other ways.

Spears suspended over coloured sand

The tv's in the background were showing short snippets on a loop.
I think it was various artists at work or happenings going on around them.
Some of it was most obscure.
