I think there is a World Day for almost everything now! World Cocktail Day is celebrated annually on May 13th to mark the anniversary of the first 1806 definition of a cocktail. The New York tabloid The Balance and Columbian Repository defined a cocktail as "a stimulating liquor, composed of spirits of any kind, sugar, water and bitters". It's a global celebration of mixology, creativity, and the history of mixed drinks, encouraging people to visit bars or craft their own cocktails.
I like cocktails and over the years have tried a few.
The Cherry Bakewell has been a firm favourite since first tasting it
celebrating my birthday five years ago.
That is now joined by the Toffee Fudge Espresso Martini
first tasted last week at the Ivy.
I craft these at home now!
Cheers

I like a classic martini, but I don't know about this fudge version!
ReplyDeleteNeither did I Michelle. I think mixologists are always creating new ones!
DeleteI'd love to try both these cocktails! Can I come over?
ReplyDeleteI would love to mix a cocktail for you Debra. Let me know if you ever visit my neck of the woods 😊 🍸
DeleteHow did I miss this?!

DeleteAnd now I know to mark this date on my calendar for next year, but then the only "mixed" drink I enjoy is a G&T which most likely doesn't count here. The Cherry Bakewell you mentioned as your favorite drink does look interesting, Polly.
ReplyDeleteExcellent with the date reminder Beatrice 😊
DeleteI have never had either of these but you got me with the names. Such good names.
ReplyDeleteI know, I love cocktails, and the names!
