A few weeks ago a friend had to have an ECG. Thankfully the results were good, in fact the consultant said she had a very healthy heart. She asked what she could do to keep it that way, he advised keeping active and walk for 30 minutes each day.
Since my dear Rufus died I haven't been doing much walking. I've been swimming twice a week for over a year but I don't enjoy it as much as walking, I also do Joe Wicks seniors exercises, which are very good. He says it's important to keep moving, no matter how small the movements, just keep the body active. So I have made an effort and now try to do an hours walk at least twice a week, sometimes with my daughter, or on my own, and my U3a evening walks have started.
I see a few animals when walking around the village.

The Guinea Fowl wander around all over the place.
There are two Llamas, the other one was sitting down
that's my lovely daughter with her dog
the Wisteria was stunning
I need to go back to see the roses and the summer plants.
∼ Be safe and well∼

Lovely scenery as you walk, quite lovely!
ReplyDeleteWe do have some lovely village walks
DeleteYou have some lovely places to walk. 'Use it or lose it' is good advice. I try to follow that advice.
ReplyDeleteMe too Janice.
DeleteIt’s so true the now well worn phrase ‘ use it or lose it’ . Your photos are lovely.

Thank you Alison
DeleteI need to be more diligent too. Hopefully my new orthotics will make it less uncomfortable to walk. Those sheep made me smile. I saw the wonderful "The Sheep Detectives" last night and they reminded me of that.
ReplyDeleteI want to see that film! I hope the orthotics work for you Jeanie.
DeleteLike yourself, Polly, I slacked of doing a lot of walking when my knee started giving me issues. It's since improved and the past few weeks I have returned to walking at least 30 minutes on the treadmill and then doing outside walks after dinner now that the weather has improved. The recently completed riverwalk near our apt is very convenient. It looks like you have a lot of lovely things to see while walking in your village and in the park.
ReplyDeleteWell done Beatrice, the riverwalk sounds nice.

ReplyDeleteThat wisteria is stunning! Walking is also my choice of exercise. You have some lovely views!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comments Michelle
DeleteI'm sorry he passed. That makes it tougher for sure (I felt that way about going out back after Wiggy passed). I agree. Movement matters and it's important to do for sure.
ReplyDeleteThank you Ivy
