and Jennifer Finney Boylan
Olivia McAfee knows what it feels like to start over. Her picture-perfect life - living in Boston, married to a brilliant cardiothoracic surgeon, raising a beautiful son, Asher - was upended when her husband revealed a darker side to his character. She never imagined she would end up back in Adams, her sleepy New Hampshire hometown, living in the house she grew up in, and taking over her father's beekeeping business.
Lily Campanello is also familiar with starting over. When she and her mom relocate to the same town they both hope it will be a fresh start. And for a short while, these new beginnings are exactly what Olivia and Lily need. Their paths cross when Asher falls for Lily, and Lily can’t help but fall for him too. With Ash, she feels happy for the first time. Yet at times, she wonders if she can trust him completely.
Then one day, Olivia receives a phone call: Lily is dead, and Asher is being questioned by the police. Olivia is adamant that her son is innocent. But she would be lying if she didn’t acknowledge the flashes of his father’s temper in him, and as the case against him unfolds, she realises he’s hidden more than he’s shared with her.

I enjoyed this but it is sad.
∼ Happy Reading∼
Some people are so good at hiding the less desirable parts of their character. Very worrying, but it sounds like a compelling story.
ReplyDeleteIt is Janice 😊
Deletep.s. How's your face feeling now?
ReplyDeleteMuch better thank you Janice. Everything is healing nicely, the blood is dispersing from my eye and the bruises are turning yellow!
DeleteJody Picoult writes a good story. Very interesting sounding.
ReplyDeleteIt is Jeanie
DeleteI liked it also!

DeleteMaybe not if it's sad. Hope your face has healed. It looked dreadful. Poor you. What a nasty shock.
ReplyDeleteIt's healing nicely. I can see more white instead of red in my eye, and the bruising is slowly going.
DeleteLoved this book and gave me a new perspective on trans people.
ReplyDeleteAnd on how they feel growing up knowing something isn't quite right.
DeleteHi Polly, I've answered your question over at my Beautiful Woman of the Day blog.
ReplyDeleteThank you Debra, it worked x
DeletePolly, I was glad to read by your reply to a previous comment that your healing continues although it will take awhile for the discoloration to completely disappear. I have never read anything by this author and may put this read on a future list, thanks for the review.
ReplyDeleteThank you Beatrice 😊
