Here we are at the start of a new year and once again I'm asking myself how does time pass so quickly? but at the same time when I think back and remember my childhood Christmases - the simplicity and magic, believing in Father Christmas, being happy with just one or two simple gifts, chicken for dinner was a once a year treat then, and, when my mother took the decorations down I was so upset because the next Christmas was so very far away, time crawled along. So how can time be passing so quickly now when it crawled along then? I think that is a question that even the great philosophers would struggle with.
My take on it is getting older and new inventions and technology speeding up time.
One think I know for certain is that however time passes, pass it does, so I'm going to continue doing as much as I can, my mantra is "While I can do it, I will do it" .

A very good mantra to have - use it or lose it!
ReplyDeleteI hope to keep 'using it' for a long time!
DeleteYes, tempis fugit now that we're old and have seen it all!
ReplyDeleteI have seen a lot of years!
DeleteA perfect mantra! And a very accurate observation of time. I often feel the same.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jeanie
DeleteSuch a good mantra! I think time seems to speed up because each day/month/year is a smaller fraction of our life. One year at age 20 is 1/20th, at age 70 it's 1/70th, a much diminished amount.
ReplyDeleteThat is a brilliant explanation Lorrie. I was discussing time with a friend in the church cafe this morning and he had the same theory 😊
DeleteGreat attitude. I couldn’t agree more!
ReplyDeleteThank you Marie
DeleteGreat mantra.. Both my husband and I are astounded at how quickly time is flying by.
ReplyDeleteIt's scary
DeleteBeautiful blog
ReplyDeleteThank you
DeleteHi Polly. That is a great outlook and one that I say as well. If I can or while I can do it, I'll do it. Interesting about the chicken then being a once a year treat. Now chicken feels like it's everywhere.
ReplyDeleteIt is hard to believe that about chicken. My mother used to buy beef, pork and lamb.

DeleteTime does seem to fly by doesn't it. While yes technology etc has made things different I think things, moments feel slower when we are kids.. and as adults the more things we need to juggle it seems like we never have enough time making it feel like time is passing by more quickly.
ReplyDeleteYes I believe you're right Hena.
DeleteTime is going by way too fast, I agree, Polly. When I was younger, there were things or special days that didn’t seem to come fast enough. Now, that I’m older and wiser, there is no longer a rush for things to happen, all in good time is my mantra now.
ReplyDeleteThat's a good mantra Beatrice 😊
DeleteMy husband and I feel the same. Get going as long as we can! Life is speeding along!

DeleteI am also puzzled about 2025 - where did it go?
