1945, the vote in the House of Lords as to who should inherit the Barrington family fortune has ended in a tie, and the Lord Chancellor’s deciding vote will cast a long shadow over the lives of Harry and Giles. Harry returns briefly to America to publicise his latest novel, while Emma goes in search of a girl to adopt (Jessica, her half sister, fathered by Hugo). Meanwhile Giles falls in love with the horrible scheming Lady Virginia, which could prove to be his undoing, and as Sebastian grows and starts to make his way in the world, he gets himself into what could be serious trouble.

Sounds like there's lots of plot in this one!
ReplyDeleteThere is Debra, and more in the next one!
DeletePeople can be awfully snobbish about Jeffrey Archer, but he creates interesting characters and plots.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree.
DeleteGreat review
ReplyDeleteThank you
DeleteNothing like a good read.
ReplyDeleteI know :-)
DeleteI enjoy Jeffrey Archer's writing and have read several of the Clifton Chronicle books a few years ago, but didn't keep up with later ones. The characters you mentioned sounded familiar and I would need to start at book 1, which may be sometime in the future. So, thanks for the reminder, Polly.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome Beatrice :-)
DeleteI've never read a Jeffrey Archer, however it sounds interesting, thanks so much for sharing! Hope you have an amazing rest of the summer beauty!

DeleteThis sounds like a gripping continuation of the Clifton Chronicles! Archer's ability to weave intricate plots and deep character developments keeps readers hooked. I'm curious to see how the vote and family dynamics will unfold.
